Scott DeLoach earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from Iowa State University in 1982, followed by a Master of Science and a PhD in computer engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1987 and 1996, respectively. He served in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 2001. In July 2001, he joined the Department of Computing and Information Sciences at Kansas State University. DeLoach was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005 and Professor in 2011. He became head of the department in July 2014, serving in this role until his retirement in June 2025.
