CIS200 Announcements

25 April

Because there will be maintenance on the university network on Saturday, the 26th, the Assignment 7 deadline is pushed back one day, to April 27.

6 April

Exam 2 will be given on Wednesday, April 9. There will be a short review session on Tuesday, April 8. There are no labs this Thursday.

2 April

I have posted on the Lectures page all the examples of counter GUIs from lecture.

14 March

Many people ask about the dates of the exams. It appears that Exam 2 will be on Weds., April 9, at classtime. The third exam will be held during finals week. The third exam will not be comprehensive but will cover only the material presented after Exam 2.

10 March

I must attend a funeral on March 12, so there will be no lectures that day. There are no labs on March 13. I hope you enjoy your spring break.

17 February

Somehow, a problem arose with the link to the CIS200 submissions page for Assignment 3. I believe that I fixed the link. Please try submitting assignment 3 again. You have until Monday 10pm to do this.

15 February

The first exam will be Wednesday, 20 Febrary, 2:30pm, at the classroom. It will be a 50-minute exam and cover Assignments 1-3 and all the lab sessions till now. The format will be closed-book, but you will be allowed to bring a single 8.5"*11" note sheet. I will give a short review at next Tuesday's lecture.

6 February

I am sorry that I missed today's lecture --- there was an emergency that forced me to spend the afternoon at the hospital. (I wasn't the patient, by the way.) I have asked your lab instructors to present some new ideas in Thursday's labs so that we will not fall behind. I am hoping that I will be in my office for office hours on Thursday, but I already know that I must be back at the hospital again tomorrow, so I cannot promise that I will make my office hours at 2:30-4:00pm. Sorry. In any case, see you next week....

27 January

Assignment 1 and its submission page are now posted. As a rule, I will post the assignment and its submission page the Sunday or Monday following the Thursday labs.

Because of a medical appointment in Kansas City, I cannot present lecture on Wednesday, so class is cancelled that day.

21 January

The Engineering College's Scholars-Assisting-Scholars Program has hired Mr. Tony Clarke to assist with CIS200.
Mr. Clarke keeps his office in the second floor study area, directly above the Cafe-Q shop, in the Engineering building.
His office hours are

Mondays and Wednesdays: 1:30-2:30pm
Tuesdays: 9:00am-2:30pm
Tuesdays: 9:00am-3:30pm
His consulting is free of charge.

14 January

Please attend your scheduled lab on January 17 and 18. I will give the first lecture of the course during the lab meeting.
