Amanda graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in English in 1995. She met her David at a local seafood establishment in Jayhawkland that same year. They were married in 1996 in Olathe, Kansas and moved to Wichita where they were both employed. After a few years, David moved on to a new job in Olathe as Senior Kitchen Manager at Joe's Crab Shack Restaurant. Gateway Country Stores transferred Amanda too, and they lived in Overland Park for a few years. On December 10, 1999, the family expanded with the birth of Logan Miles. This cutie has stolen the hearts of both Amanda and David as well as his Great Grandparents who are most happy to have family living close enough for afternoon visits. In fact, both Amanda and David have fallen in love with family life and plan to enlarge their family some more in the coming years. Amanda found a new position as a receptionist for a national brokerage house (sales schedules not being conducive to acquiring daycare!), and did quite well despite the lack of sleep that accompanies any infant, managing to be promoted to Annuity Marketing Assistant in just five months at the company! The year 2000 brought some even bigger changes to their lives when David was offered a promotion to General Manager of a Joe's Crab Shack in San Antonio, TX! After some soul-searching, they decided to accept the offer and packed up. Joe's soon realized their error and relocated the family back to Overland Park after a couple months! (Yes, I was on both ends of the moves. Hey, it's hard to pass up an all expense paid trip 13 hours away from home!) After a hard run in the KC job market, Amanda managed to find a new position with a local publishing firm. Joe's is taking care of David; the newest (and second) location in the Kansas City area is being built in Independence, MO and David will be holding the reins as General Manager when they open for business!
